This manner of construction dates goes back a long time: the earliest known cooking devices of this sort are at least 3000 years old. Although these artifacts were made from clay, the switch to ceramic did not take long to occur. The design for the kamado grills we use today is a postwar innovation, but even that update kept the ceramic material.

Blaze kamado grills are not traditional. Instead of ceramic, the bodies are constructed with thick cast aluminum. We should expect nothing less from Blaze, a relative newcomer to the grill world that has already made a strong impression with their high-quality creations. However, they do not shirk tradition for its own sake. They experimented and discovered that aluminum grills are more durable and longer-lasting than typical kamado grills.
