Behind the Pit interview with Bama of Bama4evercatering

Owner Name: Robert ‘ BAM ‘ Everson

Age: 44

Location: Queen Creek AZ

Brand Name: Bama BBQ 4 Ever Catering

IG Handle: @bamabbq4evrcatering

Has BBQ always been your passion, or did you have a career before? Yes I have always loved to cook and BBQ, even since a young kid. Before I Started Bama BBQ I was a Master barber in the valley for 20 years, I owned and operated Top 5 Hair Dzign in Tempe Az!

How did you come up with the brand name Bama BBQ 4 Ever Catering: I’m a think outside the box type of guy! My wife and I actually came up with the name together. My nickname as a Barber was LIL BAM and I’m a diehard Alabama Crimson Tide fan. Also, I figured I would tie my nickname and my hometown state together to create a name that most people can relate to.  It’s catchy!

What is your most popular product and why do you think that is? Well, our Brisket and Beans are the top sellers on the truck and catering so its hard to pick just one. Both dishes have been perfected over the years. I think that they are the most popular dishes because of the consistency of flavor and texture whenever we cook them!

What is the story behind creating that product? Love and cooking from the heart. When I'm in the kitchen or on the food truck,  I’m always creating new dishes for our customers to try. The beans are a dish that I created over a 20 year run of playing with different seasoning and making a few changes here and there to improve the rich bold flavors that they have today.

What do you think people love most about your brand? That Alabama is known for southern style food and great BBQ, so knowing the brand is southern base bbq dishes in the west it brings excitement and curiosity

Do you want to say anything to your fans, followers, and supporters? Without you all we wouldn’t be what we are today, the following and support from everyone has been amazing, and we greatly appreciate each and every one of you.

Do you have any words of wisdom for those who are looking to make a name for themselves in the world of Barbecue? Yes, if it’s a passion to be a pit master or even just a outstanding backyard grilling machine to impress friends and family for get together’s, I say do it and give it your all. Becoming a great cook is not something that you become from just doing it from time to time, practice makes perfect. Grill, Smoke, Cook as much a possible and take good notes, those really help with your next cook!

Closing Thoughts: I’m so blessed and thankful to be what I am today with all the hard work, dedication and support from Mike West and the guys at BBQ ISLAND!
