Page Springs Cellars Wine Wood
When a wine barrel is new it adds oak flavor to the wine. After 5 years the barrel becomes neutral and no longer imparts any oak flavor into the wine. Instead of buying new barrels, the winemakers insert these staves into the neutral barrels. They are used for two years at which point they become neutral also. Unlike actual wine barrel wood which have very little wine penetration, these are completely saturated to the core with fantastic wine flavor.
